This my first turbine engine, a Solar Aircraft T62T-32 being run for the camera. I got it running in 2006.

  • Question? what is that wire for at the end of the exhaust, Is it for reading exhaust temperatures?

  • @honeybunchickens Yes, that is the exhaust gas temperature thermocouple.

  • Cool man... you should be a very proud owner... Keep it up :) I just wish I had something like that myself...

  • @kylemontanaro Thanks!

  • I have a T62T-32 that I am listing on Ebay shortly. Feel free to message me if you want any info.

  • The output spline turns at 6,000 RPM at rated speed.

  • Glad you liked the video. Unfortunately I can't think of a cheap solution, other than, say, finding one that's not a demonstrated runner but spins freely and isn't missing any parts, which you could get running and might be at least a little cheaper. You might check with Bruce at Avon Aero. He's the best supplier to turbine hobbyists that I know of. Interestingly enough I'm working on a tractor myself but using a Garrett GTP30 engine. Good luck!

  • Yes, it's a hobby. This was my first turbine engine that I got running. After firing it up I wanted to build a vehicle powered by a turbine, but the T62 was difficult to adapt due to its single spool design and lack of an internal speed governor, so I built a turbine powered golf cart using a JFS-100 engine, which you might have seen video of here on youtube.

  • Cool, may I ask what you do with this? Is this a hobby or...?

  • Good video ! I have wanted a T-62 for a few years now.... I check eBay now and then, but can never seem to find a good running one for under $4000. And ideas ? I would like one to put in a tractor :)
