Many years ago, Bob Ralston recorded his first theatre organ album on the 4/34 Senate Theatre Wurlitzer. Among his selection was a terrific arrangement of "How Great Thou Art" where Bob played the a duet with himself - using the theatre organ and playing the Wurlitzer grand piano from the organ console.
He was kind enough to print out his arrangement for me. To say the least, nothing Bob Ralston does is simple. His arrangements are complex and intricate. This one is in three different keys. A few years ago at a concert at the Senate, Eric Hite - then just 19 years old - played this duet with me. Wurlitzer made a great theatre organ, but their pianos left a lot of be desired. The piano is a little difficult to hear over the Wurlitzer at times.
Eric was a contestant in the ATOS Young Theatre Organist competition, and he learned Bob's arrangement in just a few days (with three key changes) to join me on the stage, performing the song sans music.
