This is a game from Round 5 of 2011 Masters Tournament between Alexei Shirov and Vishwanathan Anand. Observe how Anand handles the Advanced variation of the Caro-Kann by declining the offering of a pawn on many occasions so as to take a more positional approach with minimal risk.

  • @mohakmehta oh

  • @ChessNetwork I play the caro kann religiously and in my opinion you did a good job analyzing this video. The good bishop vs bad bishop in the caro kann was quite logical to me, and I don't know why some people said you didn't explain this correctly.

  • Knight in the corner's a horror

  • @ChessNetwork This might be the single best response to a hater. One paragraph of whining put down with two letters xD

  • @KingCrassusII That's so cheezy.

  • You ramble too much.

  • Looks like he guy doesn't know about chess, but I appreciate the contribution for cosily watching some top-class game while eating lunch at the sofa :)

  • Shirov's head got pawnd for 240 gold!

  • @mohakmehta Yes thats why I disliked video.

  • Anand plays very well as black.

  • @ChessNetwork some people just don't know how to appreciate other people's efforts in showing an analysis of a game... much better not minding these stupid guys.....you did an excellent job....works pretty well for me in understanding the logic of the moves, thanks to you.....some people just criticize...i bet they don't even know how to create such video analysis on their own....great job btw.
