If Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is not the main driver of global warming, what is? The well-documented, "Sun and Sea" Hypothesis may be a good place to start looking.

  • Sorry but the the Sun has been getting less active for the last 50 years while global warming has taken off at the same time. Changes in insolation (the amount of solar energy reching the earth are many times too small to explain the temperature rise that we have observed (in fact goes in the wronfg direction (see watch?v=sjriD92A1VE)

  • @drkstrong

Some scientists believe that Total Solar Irradiance (energy over all wavelengths) or its corollary Isolation may be major drivers of Earth's climate. However, many believe the variance is too small to account for major temperature changes. I would plum for sunspot number as the most plausible climate forcing derived from the sun.

  • @drkstrong way to go doc

  • @climatereview Few solar physicists believe that the change in TSI is sufficient to expalin even a small part of the GW we have seen in the last few decades & I dont know of a single climatologist that does. The numbers are orders of magnitude too small because there is no trend. If you take the most generous interpretation of TSI & then use the uncertainty in the +ve direction you are still a factor of 10 out.

Sunspot number is a physically meaningless quantity - look at the magnetic flux.
