It's a reoccuring story, you can find the unabridged version in Summers's "Vampire: His Kith & Kin" or De Groot's "Religious Systems of China", both of which are available in full text on Google Books.

Aww... I take it you did this based on the movies... Fun because it's based off the movies, but kind of disappointed that there aren't any of the actual horror story facts. They aren't supposed to be vampires and you need a priest to make someone a jiang shi.

Actually, burial rituals are important, & individuals (atleast according to de Groot's Religious Systems of China & Summer's Vampire: His Kith & Kin) could become chiang-shih from mistakes (like cats jumping over the body, etc.)
Unfortunately, some of my partners used online resources, but the story I tell (the ghoul holding the husband's head) is a reoccuring folk story.
