Popcorn ceiling removal

My beach apartment needs a classy look so I'm redoing the ceiling and floor. I thought about replacing the ceiling drywall with plywood, but I have no training in making those fancy wooden ceilings that some expensive homes have. Step 1: Get a 1 gallon bug spray pump at hardware store
Step 2: Fill it with about 9 parts water and 1 part white vinegar (Soap only works if nobody has ever painted the popcorn ceiling.) Step 3: Soak the ceiling with the mixture. Step 4: Gently scrape off the now loosened popcorn without gouging the underlying drywall. Step 5: Clean up fast before the popcorn dries since it's like glue. Step 6: Let ceiling dry a couple days. Step 7: Paint walls and ceiling brilliant white. Step 8: Begin work on floor now that nothing will be dropping down on it from above.

See my vid called Popcorn removal part 2. Basically, I smoothed out any rough spots with joint compound then rolled high gloss white paint over the ceiling and walls. I like high gloss because it: reflects light, dust adheres to it less, and it's easier to clean.

ok,well in a EPA classi learned that pop corn cieling , even recent ones have asbestos.... is removal wise?? at some piont it is breathed... by the way cover up walls etc so they dont have to be cleaned later

how did you end up finishing off the ceiling once you had removed the popcorn?
