  • I shot this video using an old Sony still camera that happened to have an MPEG video mode. The mic on the camera is the size of a pinhead and any medium or high pitch noise sounds awful. The reverb off the side of the machine enclosure amplified the noise by a factor of ten so I turned it down. It actually sounded pretty good in real life.

Try this cut with your Varimill, Z-carb, or Monkey Mill.

  • Nice short toolholder. Most guys use long holders and get lousy performance and they don't need the reach.

  • "Crap; I thought the sound was turned off!"

It almost is. They just turned the volume way down. There's no such thing as a machine with a silent spindle, much less silent cutting. "Magic endmills" don't exist.

    Actually volume was probably +30dB.

  • Jessica Simpson asked how they'd make a cavity with sharp corners and was told that they'd use a SQUARE end mill and went away happy.

  • Crap; I thought the sound was turned off!
