Did you massage his leg after he yelped? I know for a matter of fact he was hurt, but you really can't stop dogs from doing that. It's instinctual of them to be extremely exhilarated when they sense their owners are near.

@flauterfli well my friends puppy can get hurt very easily, and she is a shiba, 1 year old, they might not be build like humans but humans and animals cant comunicate, so we can tell if its hurt or not I think it is, Tammy (my friends pup) will yap and skip like that went her leg is hurt, we can tell because she has had problems with her leg before

LOL the puppy is FINE. shibas do this all the time... they squeeze their way out of almost everything... they're kind of like cats in that way :P AND shibas are talkative his "yap" was just a YAY look at me! =) type of thing or: HEY, WHERE'S THE TREAT?! he's fine SO STOP FREAKING OUT. D:<

In no way did I mean to encourage or enforce his behavior. I came home and miraculously, he was out of the cage. I was dumbfounded and needed to see it for myself. Now I know for a fact that Shibas are escape artists. Sumo has since never tried to escape :).
