The Tabarka was a 2,624-ton steamer built in 1909. She was constructed in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She was a single-screw steamer, formally known as the Pollux, registered in Rouen. The Tabarka was seized in Falmouth in July 1940 by the Royal Navy and taken to Scapa Flow, for use as a blockship. She was initially sunk in Kirk Sound, but was later refloated and moved in 1944 to Burra Sound, where she now lies. She lies in 12m of water, completely upside-down, about 650m off of Hoy's East Coast. There are only one or two entrances into the Tabarka, mainly through explosion holes or going under and over between steel girders.
