MN2S @ matter 30th January 2009 - Fedde Le Grand, Martin Solveig, Joey Negro & 1trax

Friday 30th January 09 saw MN2S start their new residency at the recently opened matter. After holding down a residency at The End for 9 years it was a natural step to move to Londons newest and most technically advanced venue.

Starting in fine style the party saw 3000 people attend making it the biggest party that MN2S have staged in London. Now that the dust has settled on MN2Ss debut, we can bring you a full report. With a line up consisting of Fedde Le Grand, Martin Solveig, Joey Negro; and the 1trax label hosting room 2, you could feel a buzz of expectation not only in London but throughout Europe, which is where many of our guests flew in from.

With coverage of the event on Radio 1, Kiss FM and a host of national and regional press the MN2S office was inundated with requests and by the day of the party all advanced tickets had sold out. 2500 of you purchased your tickets in advance making sure you didnt miss the biggest party to take place in London so far this year. A further 500 made it through the door whilst unfortunately many more had to be turned away.

matters staff made sure that queues where kept to a minimum and by 11.30pm the main room was packed with clubbers listening to Joey Negros special Akabu set. At 1am Martin Solveig started his set and with a diverse selection of records he continued building the atmosphere. Over in Room 2 Hauswekrs had just finished his set and handed over to the newly discovered talent, Maya Jane Coles. Using Ableton she played a special hour long live set that set the tone for Swedens Tigerstripes who continued playing the deep sounds until the final set of the night from Daley Padley. At 3am chants could be heard from the main room as the crowd cheered in the headliner of the night, Fedde Le Grand. Fedde played a 3 hour set and whilst we were treated to some new material he also kept the crowd happy by throwing in the odd classic track. With the crowd in the palm of his hand Fedde made full use of the custom built sound system and finished his set with the main room as busy as when he started. A stellar performance from all the artists on the night.

MN2Ss debut at matter was a great start to their new found home. There was an electric atmosphere throughout the night and from peoples comments it would seem that everyone was happy with the outcome. Plans are under way for the next party, MN2Ss 14th birthday.
