It's one thing to have slept with men before you have found yourself, and another completely to "go back" once you have an established happy life with a family and all. This just makes asshole guys that think they can "turn a girl out" feel like they can indeed turn a lesbian "back" to guys. When even remote idea of that is absolutely preposterous, we are lesbians since birth that is what we were meant to be. We are attracted to women and women only and that's that.
At first I wanted to see this movie, I felt it was something to portray our community. But after hearing one of the moms slept with the donor it was quite disappointing.
I kinda wanted to see the movie when I first heard about it...but then I read on AfterEllen that one of the moms slept with the donor...it made me lose my interest in goin to the movies to see...I might rent it when it comes out on DVD...but the fact that she had to cheat with a male disappointed me...
When I was twenty, it was hard to find anything film or tv. wise, that spoke of lesbian life. The few movies out there, were hard to obtain. The L Word wasn't there yet. QAF wasn't there yet, even QueerDuck wasn't there yet. With that being said, it's hard to be happy with the way we get featured in mainstream media. You're quite right, it makes us come across as people always on the brink of jumping the fence, back to "normal" love. Which is hardly the case, we love "rightly" who we love.
I felt the same way, in that films do have to have an angle society can be comfortable with. I always felt that way about the L Word, It was agitating when several cast members ended up with men at some point. I knew that had more to do with pleasing some executive, than anything else. In a manner, the movie did feature a realistic loving couple, happy normal children, actual intimacy scenes, and they ended up together in the end. However small, it has opened the door a little more for us,

First, Love the Vids!...I'm so surprised about the movie. The previews definitely were misleading, but an affair really! Didn't see that coming :(
