You can avoid fighting the Chimera with this glitch. This glitch is similar to my other Chimera glitch where I fight the Chimera at the Centaur battle arena. But this glitch is more refined. In my previous glitch when the Chimera fell out-of-bounds near the ballista, it would remain alive under the battle arena and the next Harpies area wont load until the Chimera is actually dead.
Note: The events in this vid unfold exactly as you see them.
The camera shifts around abruptly a lot when I R1 the Ballista after breaking out of R1ing it. The Chimera keeps being tricked, and it teleports around the place.
Point of Interest:
1. You can drop the Chimera out-of-bounds and it will also die, allowing you to continue on with the game as usual. I guess you could use this as a battle exploit under harder conditions, or possibly as a speed run strategy. (Although you do have to wait for those undead crawlers to reach the ballista, might cancel out any speed advantage, time will tell)
Instructions on how to do this battle exploit:
1. Using Icarus ascension (or a method of your choice) injure a few undead soldiers so that they start to crawl.
2. Lead them to the ballista, and stand behind it in preparation to R1 it. (But dont R1 yet).
3. Just as you see any of the undead about to hit you, quickly R1 the ballista. You will now be free to move around while the Chimera starts to "sneak" up on you.
4. You can now actually R1 the ballista again (as if it were for the FIRST time). So, R1 the Ballisata a second time but wait until the Chimera has actually reached you. (Dont worry he cant actually hurt yet, he has no collision, hes just like a hologram.
5. Once you R1 the ballista a second time, this re-calibrates the Chimera's starting and finishing points for his run up. He will start his "sneak-up-on-you" for a second time. But this time he will start his run up closer to the Ballista than he did on his first time. So, since he started closer, it means he then runs past the ballista and falls out of bounds.
(Now, even tho he falls out of bounds at this stage, he does not die, and therefore even if you kill helios with the ballista, you will not be able to continue. This is because the wall of Collision doesnt go away and also the Harpies for the next area wont load. (Long story).
6. After the Chimera falls off out-of-bounds near the ballista, youll see the undead crawlers dissapear. Wait about 4-7 seconds and then "Restart from last checkpoint". This will cause the undead soldiers to appear again as well as the Chimera.
(At this stage tho, the Ballista acts strangely under these conditions. Even tho the Chimera is in "Battle mode" the Ballisata's R1 function is reset to when Kratos first reaches it.
In other words if you now R1 the ballista at any moment, the Chimera then starts its "Sneak-up-on-you" motions/cutscene at any stage that you press it during the actual battle. The strange difference is that the Chimera will turn around 180 degrees and do his "sneak up" in the opposite direction to which he was originally facing. So with this, you can make the Chimera fall off out-of-bounds but this time, in any direction you choose. Luckily there is one spot where you can make the Chimera fall out-of-bounds and ACTUALLY die! The spot to drop him off is the one you see in this vid.)
Now, after you have selected "restart from last point" go slightly right of the ballista and grab an undead and throw it at the Chimera (to knock it closer to the spot where you want it to fall out-of-bounds). And then (important), when the Chimera is more or less facing the Ballista head on (his tail facing the camera), you then R1 the Ballista for a final time. The Chimera then turns around 180 degrees and does its "sneak up" animation, but (if done correctly) he will walk out of bounds to his ACTUAL death. (Strangely tho, no red orbs flow, maybe Chimera unloads?)
7. From there just progress the game as normal!
Note: I destroyed a few boxes and a civilian before R1ing the Ballista the first time. I did this for the sake of the vid, they kept getting in the way of an optimal view for the camera.
hey findlestick how do you get to make the skeletons/ minions/ whatever to follow you up to the crossbow thing? when i seem to try it, they stop by the upper bridge.

You just need to damage them enough until they start to crawl. When they crawl, they go further than normal. I damage them with Icarus Wings, its a fun glitch!

This is such a good glitch, it better stay in the final game.

Hope so, one thing I worry about is that developers might watch these vids and change stuff on the actual game.
I doubt it, also, they may have found this stuff during their own testing.
But then again...
