The Foreign Ministers of the European Union and of Central Asia, meeting today in Brussels, devoted their talks to security issues - Afghanistan in particular -, to global economic and financial crisis, to energy, to water and environment issues, as well as threats of trafficking and extremism, human rights and political freedoms. The region of Southern Caucasus is absolutely critical, not only energy, but for transporting contacts between Central Asia and Europe, Carl Bildt, Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs and President-in-office of the Council, told journalists at the end of the meeting. That is a reason why the European Union attaches great importance to the stability and democratic
development of all of the countries of Southern Caucasus, he added. On Afghanistan, Vladimir Norov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, declared that there could be no military solution but a peaceful one. http://delkaz.ec.europa.eu/joomla/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&...
