I know it's a bit creaky, but a lovely film charting the rise and fall of a musician (Dolman) and his relationship with his girlfriend (Gracie). The moral of the film is be nice to those you meet on the way up, they might be nice to you on your way down!

  • Cracking stuff our Smooj! A charmin' little song that'll keep us chins up chuck. :-)

  • Gracie fields makes me laugh. She was a born comedienne. I have seen this film many times. Best thing too is musical arrangement by Carroll Gibbons. Gracie was a natural around the stage and injected confidence and morale to a depressed Britain in the 1930s. Lost talent. Her monologues are so daft and we in Lancashire still hail her.
