@williamanesbitt Very good point. Many of the "modern" players try so hard to do their own thing so that they completely forget about the master and inventor of the style: Django Reinhardt. Stochelo always has Django in his playing, even when he experiments. This can also be heard in the playing of Angelo Debarre and the players in the Schmitt family. In this music, one must never forget Django.

sheer genius end of story

@williamanesbitt I couldn't agree more, it's fantastic. This entire concert is a complete dedication to the man himself, and they certainly picked the perfect tunes for it!

Amazing!! Completely agree with some of the comments here that say: It's great to hear that Stochelo doesn't ruin this old classic to show off his technical skills (As oppsed to another famous gypsy guitar player...)

Fantastique!

Stochelo has the fattest most awesome sounding fingers of all jazz, blues and gipsy guitarists! awesome!!!!!

My uncle tried to buy Djangos original guitar from stochelo a few years ago, they talked over the internet apparently but i think he got outbid :[ If he had won it, id be playing that guitar right now. 10/10 great song

I love Stochelo's whole approach to the song. The entire first half is nearly note for note Django's break from the 1937 QHCF recording. Then he goes on with his own stuff for the rest of the song, which is, of course, full of great tone, power and taste. But he pays homage to Django first.

Stochelo rosenberg is a gypsy god. This is sheer brilliance. He has all the chops of any top class modern guitarist, but refrains from taking every opportunity to showcase his skill in favour of playing what is expedient for the song. Classic
