  • Michael what do think of the Augsburg Accord which accepted the Protestant doctrine of Justification by faith alone?

  • @robhaidheuch The Accord doesn't say that - what it says it that faith is necessary for salvation, it does not say faith alone and does not deny Catholic doctrines.

  • Pope Benedict is going backwards not forwards. A retreat to the 1940s, The Latin Mass, Gregorian Chant etc. is not the answer to Catholicisms Problems. What is needed in a new view of the church...one that is not Euro Centric but rather world wide in its orientation. What is needed is not a return to the Renaissance, but rather a return to Christianity prior to the division of the faith into Catholic, Orthodox, Coptic, or Protestant. We need to eliminate differences rather than accentuate them.

  • @cloudsurfer007 It is impossible to go back to a time before there were Catholics. You are right - we need to go back to a previous time; which means all non-Catholics need to give up their prideful rejection of Christ and come home to Rome.

As for the rest of your comments, they don't reflect what Benedict is actually doing - just what liberals SAY he is doing, so they are irrelevant and ignored.

  • I want to know why some of this isn't coming from our pulpits? What he says makes sense. Thank goodness the Latin mass has been liberated.

  • To me , it is Pope Benedict the Great, truely the pope of the Olive Branch. God Bless and keep him, TY God that your straightening out the Church and Pope Benedict open to be Your Pen.

  • As a catholic in Scotland I have not heard of any gay movements within the church I would find it worring if any person claiming to be catholic should accept Homosexuality as it is clear both in the bible and churchs law. St Paul in his letters to the Romans speaks of it as with the earlier reverance to it being an abomination.

  • @basingstokeborn C atholcism doesn't accept divorce nor adultery and I believe as a catholic I am celebrating mass in the way that Jesus himself laid out.

  • @cloudsurfer007 There is no elimination of differences the catholic church is in the right and all protestant faiths or eastern orthodox should retunr to the catholic church. Any changing of catholcism is a disintegration of the word of God and is sacrilege.

  • @cloudsurfer007 Strangely enough before the division into Catholic, Coptic, Orthodox or Protestant Churches the Catholic Church was saying the Mass in Latin. It was introduced in the 5th century. I often hear about a return to the early Church but the question is could the reformers calling for this also follow the moral teachings of the early Church. These christians were totally faithful to Christ in his teachings on adultery, divorce, and faithfulness Today we makelJesus a liar.

  • I think we have to be careful here, Vatican II is not the problem but the interpretation of Vatican II. Also, there is no reason why the Latin Mass can't run alongside the Vernacular Mass. I enjoy both Masses. However, Vatican II was necessary, for example, to promote the study of the Bible and to bring the Church in line with the changing world but in a positive way. I think we need a Vatican III.

  • Yeah Pope! I think each continent's values slip in Europe embraces gays and US is trying to but it is clear that to embrace gays is embracing evil demons which want to destroy their souls with the sin it invokes

USA materialism and power has infected US churches and narcissim is at it's height and seeks to steal our souls with greed

The women and women clergy need to look to Mary. Why can't women accept the role of women

Why can't men be men and those who choose celibacy be faithful
