continued: Modern American politics is a joke. Will I vote for this phony telling everyone what everyone wants to hear while attempting to offend as few people as possible, or will I vote for this other phony doing the exact same thing? Hm. Such a tough decision.

Real debates don't even exist anymore. Try reading transcripts of debates from the 1800's. Or debates of Ancient Rome. Those addressed hard, divisive issues frankly and honestly, and showed clear ways in which candidates differed from one another.

We wont get more in depth conversation or real "debates" until the field narrows. Logistically,it just cannot be done with so many on the stage. I would love to see some direct face-offs now though.

I feel exactly the same as you do regarding the debate, ariahfine. To me, Obama was the only candidate who didn't seem as though he was up there "selling" himself by just feeding us the answers we want to hear. He was clear, concise and honest, and that is exactly what I want to see in our next president.
