WickedTornado, I am a little over a decade your senior and I too love Major Lance songs. I missed seeing him when he came through Louisville with Moms Mably around 63. They were playing clubs and I couldn't quite get in yet. The Matadore is my favorite because of the trumpet flare followed by a kick ass piano riff. Monkey Time, Um um um etc, Rythm and all are great songs. I have the double album too on CD. Love it!

(Post 2 of 2) I fell in love with Major around '64 with Monkey Time. I've got most all of his stuff on disc, including his double disc set. They're about played out! As you know, the recordings from the 60's suck compared to nowdays, and I've ALWAYS wished that someone could re-do these tunes, adding a heavy dose of bass. FINALLY....it's been done...att least on this tune. When I first heard it this morning, it knocked me out!! Thank you a zillion times over, this tune just kicks ass now!!

(Post 1 of 2) Well, I'm a white, 56yr. old desert rat from Arizona who has two all-time favorite musicans out of thousands of favorites...The Beatles and Major Lance. That's a very, very weird...and I guess you'd have to call it eclectic, twosome. I grew up in dusty little Marana, Arizona...near Tucson (it was tiny THEN). It wasn't like I grew up in the inner city of Detroit or someplace...so where this absolute LOVE of Major Lance's work came from, perhaps it was from a past life, lol.
