  • Cosby [eating cornflakes]: It was *crunch* one of the most *chomp* *gulp* touching *munch* stories I'd ever *gnomp* heard *glug*.

  • @sonnyjjchiba well at least we know it wasn't jello pudding.

  • Newfies are well known to have the warmest hearts in Canada.

  • @army2k08 having traveled much of canada, I'd have to agree with that. I'd give Torontonians the coldest award, if you're looking for colder hearts than that, you'd have to look south of our border.

  • I always thought the Newfie jokes were done in fun with no malice. Never heard anything negative. I love this beautiful story, it bought tears to my eyes. I will send this to all my friends and hope they pass it on.

  • @landlogger I've been all kinds of places in Canada, and i think the only place I've heard newfie jokes treated as derogatory is in Toronto. Newfies will counter that the reason newfie jokes are so simple is so that the mainlanders will understand them.

  • I have heard this gentleman, Lanier Phillips talk about how being as a blackman in WW2, on a ship he was segregated, only allowed kitchen duty. Then after a ship wreck off Newfoundland; he woke up in a white ladies bed (unheard of in the deep South in those days) being gently washed and later sat at their table for meals; it changed his self worth forever, to be shown kindness and not racism.

  • cosby is so cute when he said NO! :D

  • when it comes to the way newfoundlanders are treated... the most newfoundlander jokes seem to come from us newfounlanders ourselves! One of the greatest things about us! we know how to laugh at ourselves. If you can't laugh at yourself you shouldn't laugh at anyone! (:

  • We tell more Newfie jokes than anyone else! You have to be able to laugh at yourself also :D.

  • Another reason to be a proud Newfie..makes me miss home as well as pride in my home province ;D. Wow I didn't know that Bill was in the Navy and would never have guessed he was stationed in Newfoundland :D.

  • @MrXstacey True, true..Makes me want to listen to the Ontario sucks song :-)
