A 7 year old making life decisions? Seriously? When I was his age I was convinced that I could fly and had to be told repeatedly that I wasn't able too. Thank goodness before I jumped off something high. I'm pretty sure this boy doesn't buy his own clothes, haircuts and toys - an adult do. The issue here seems to be that this kid's mother birthed a boy and desperately wanted/wants a girl - and thus is destroying this poor child in order to prove how "progressive" she is.

It is obvious that some people are not up on the current science. Gender parts and gender identification do not always go hand in hand. I would suggest that some of the bigots do some reading. This child is perfectly normal, but different. HER mother is giving HER the support SHE needs.

Well, the doctor that delivers the baby, for starters. Then it's up to the parents to do their job and raise the child as such. Wait until puberty hits and then see how things works out. By then he will hardly be thanking his mother for the publicity as school kids can be quite cruel.

"No Bobby, you're not a girl" may very well have been enough to nip this in the bud, single mother or not. It sounds like the boy thinks he's a girl simply because he likes girly things. Lots of little boys like girly stuff, and lots of little girls like tomboy stuff, without ending up becoming poster child's of the trans gender community at the ripe age of 7. Where did this little guy even learn about this stuff? I'd say Mom has gender issues with him and is pushing him.

@knutgordon So all single parent mothers go through something like this? What a stupid thing to imply! What I assume happened is when they went toy shopping or clothes shopping, when the mom was looking in the boys section, the son probably mentioned that he liked the girl's clothing better, toys too. He didn't do any "formal deciding" or shit, its just what he was naturally drawn to. And I don't see what there is to correct, its not like he is a bad kid, or has bad discipline.

The same mother that claim he as a 2-year-old toddler understood enough about gender to *decide* he is a girl? Apparently there is no male role models around, so the child identified himself with the present mother and older sister. What a surprise. Any normal parent would have corrected the boy and moved on. but not this one. Her statement that she's always allowed him to do his own thing is exactly what you don't do as a parent. I see a bright future for the kid.

If his mother haven't had it cut off,.. and he still has his external plumbing... then he should join the boy scouts, if any scout at all. Liberal crap. @knutgordon you haven't a fucking clue what the mother is trying to do. LIttle kids are very able to show what they like and don't like. He obvioulsy likes playing with barbies, wearing girl's clothes, and acting like a girl. His mother is just allowing him to be himself rather than repressing him and hurting him emotionally, you STUPID FUCK.
