I was just reading about the events of this song the other day,on the 45th anniversary.
I have always enjoyed the song. but what is documented is no different to what the Taliban did to the Buddhas of Bamiyan.
It is cultural rape.
just because you don't like it, doesn't mean other people born long after our time ,will feel the same.
I was amused by the fact that the "cleanup" was more destructive than the original bomb though!.
Thankfully,know one died!.

Now we have the Spike! and a load of Globiliized Franchise Outlets.....in O,Connell...we have just swapped one set of Masters for another.... James Connolly was right regarding the lowering of the flag of Empire and raising our own... what that haschanged....we now have native despotic Carpetbaggers ruling over us.. They would burn Ireland to the ground of they could claim on the insurance!

Kelly, can you tell me what Luke says before the poem? Did you know that 'Nelson's Farewell' takes on the same tune as 'Smith of Bristol'? But there's one big difference. Not about the lyrics but about the tune. Can you guess what it is? Listen to 'Smith Of Bristol' and you'll find out.

we had to practice a little song that we sing about nelson, and we were looking through some books of poetry, Irish poetry
and we came across a poem by Louis McNeese,
poet and as it turns out Profit. a poem called Dublin, Just simply Dublin, and this is the first verse of the poem.
