A lot of people posting on this issue are missing the point . This is not a democrat vs republican debate on subsidies .Cenk is highlighting the double speak of politicians on both sides of the political spectrum , that they share a common ground. They are rich farmers who benefit from government handouts but are against handouts for the poor.This is a rich vs poor issue .

Neocons have been able to turn socialism into a bad word and use that to their advantage only by deliberately encouraging American ignorance. Most citizens here don't know the difference between economies and political systems. Repubs deliberately conflate the two so people can equate socialism with tyranny, unable to conceive of socialist DEMOCRACIES. This confusion helps keep the "peasants" under control. Why does not the media ask her about these farm subsides,medicare to her husbands counseling which she claims to leave him out of it but uses that same business as her experience to run the country, her plan on how she is going to get $2 gas, why she can not remember dates, history,what her plan is for job creation and what her spending cuts would be and where she got her college degree from they say its a made up Christian College and finally why her eyes look possessed!

It's not the same thing. Farm subsidies help keep critical commodities low and allow farmers to continue farming. Some years, farmers lose hundreds of thousands of dollars due to something unpredictable like rain timing or pestilence.
