Recontextualization of an old interaction with Damien Hirst work, including a new interaction with a Cartrain quote that I transcribed from an interview on youtube. Cartrain was 16, and Hirst sued him for using images of Hirst's diamond encrusted skull in Cartrain's collages.
Cartrain on the artistic appropriation of an image of Hirst's work:
"Well I think everybody has an artistic right to be creative, and uh I haven't really sort of stolen his image. I've just sort of uh taken it uh sort of a, like, an ode to him, but uh, so it's not entirely his. The image, you haven't used the whole stories of other peoples' work, and sort of uh it's not really his, its not really his, it's just a tiny portion that's his."
interesting.
