Thanks for the post! Amazing writer...I could never equal something so great, even though I wish to be a screenplay writer, someday. He obviously spent countless hours on it -- perfectly condesing his emotions into an amazing film.

Right. It was a bit of a farce really IIRC. Wasn't it all first hatched by Squeaky and Sandra Goode starting some enviro group called ATWA in Sacramento and sending threats to CEOs and Congress etc? And naming themselves after colours and then Sandy dropping out to do some other shit?

@krakenwave Squeaky never shot at Ford. She pulled a gun on him but was pounced on by Secret Service agents. Only three weeks later, Sarah Jane Moore did manage to get off a shot at Ford; her shot missed when a bystander knocked her arm up as she was aiming.

0.35 - per Schrader. That woman who took a shot a the President (Ford) was Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, one of Charlie Manson's most faithful Family members. It happened in Sept 1975 in Sacramento. She got 25 - life and got out of Carswell FMC about 5 years ago.

The story he tells of the young man who thought the movie was about him. I think the pathology is part and will always be a part of the modern world. The horror is bred by this world, not a film.
