I've been to Atlanta. It's a growing metropolis.
Santa Barbara is a wonderful city, but like all places has its drawbacks. Here, property values are very high (but seem to keep their value, not lose it, and that's good).

And the smog...
Everywhere within 100 or more miles of Los Angeles there skulks an ever destructive smog. That smog infests even SB. For a few hours, every few days, your lungs will find it difficult to breath; you'll cough up black stuff.
Otherwise, the beauty and wonder is quite grand, and extremely valuable.
I'll still be here by the 15th. Let me know when you arrive and I'll show you around. There are several nice colleges nearby, among other things.

so how are the prices as far as clothes? nike/reebok shoes for example? do the prices differ from atlanta?

Can't really say about Atlanta, but as far as I've noticed, SB is about the same as anywhere else. Nike's still $100, plus or minus. Like anywhere, you have to shop around.

so how do you like santa barbara? how big is the mall?

Santa Barbara is fantastic! The weather is quite good all year long, and it's a very safe place from crime.
The malls leave things to desire, however. For the most part, SB does not allow big retailers -- they maintain a quaint atmosphere. The atmosphere truly is better than most places, but you have to go a long way to shop.
