Here, now, the news - the final part of a full 6pm WABC Eyewitness News broadcast from 1980 featuring the legendary anchor team of Roger Grimsby and Bill Beutel. It might look plain, but its beauty is apparent once you look deeper.

This segment is mostly lighter stories and weather. Weather is the last and least important item in the newscast. I repeat, weather is the last and least important part. It's also split up by a commercial break. Very simple presentation here - no doppler radar.

  • Funny, in 1980 the weather was least important - today, it's the sports.

  • That was incredible! Thank you for sharing this episode of Eyewitness News with us. I was 1 when this aired and to see what NYC was like when I was a baby is amazing. If you have anymore newscasts from that time (1980) please share them with us cause I'd love to see more newscasts from that time. Peace.

  • Wow...I watched the whole thing, and the retromercials made it! As for an aside comment...TV Guide really isn't the same anymore.

  • Bill is missed

  • 1:25........WHAT IS THAT!!!!!

  • They should've added in the credits "Copyright (C) 1980 American Broadcasting Companies, Inc., All Rights Reserved"

  • The closing line for TV Patrol was "Hanggang Bukas/sa Lunes, Magandang Gabi, Bayan!"

  • @StukInBuf this theme music for GMA's "News at Seven" and RPN's "Newswatch" was Cool Hand Luke: The Tar Sequence?

  • a weather report with a weather man was Mario Palafox in 1987

  • As someone so deftly pointed out in part one of this Eyewitness News set... if Storm Field is not an appropriate name for a weathercaster, what is?
