What is Stevia? Stevia is of the Composite family, related to lettuce, marigold and chicory. It was "Officially" discovered in the late 19th century by Dr. Moises Santiago Bertoni. He was given samples of the plant and he reported that "one small piece of the leaf will keep the mouth sweet for an hour". He named the plant Stevia Rebuadiani Bertoni in honor of a Paraguayan chemist name Rebaudi. Bertoni found that the Guarani Indians had been using the leaves of the plant to sweeten bitter teas and as a sweet treat.

What are the benefits of Using Stevia? Studies have shown the following benefits from using Stevia in one's diet. These benefits have not been approved or confirmed by the FDA.

* Sugarless with no calories

* 100% Natural
* 250 to 300 times sweeter than sugar

* Non-fermentable
* Flavor enhancer
* Plaque retardant Anti-caries (prevents cavities)

Where is Stevia Grown? Originally stevia grew wild in the highland region of Northern Paraguay and Southern Brazil. It was later cultivated for use as a sweetener until the introduction of sugar cane by the Spanish and Portuguese. Today Stevia is grown around the world from China, Japan and other Asian countries to South America, Europe, India, the Ukraine and even North America.

  • Stevia is a cancer causing agent. The big corps (1%) paid Obama billions to get this approved. Don't buy it!

  • Just google CSPI scam. This guy is a liberal tool. Literally.

  • Aspartame gives you cancer, made from bacteria's shit.

    I know what I'd rather have.

  • @crackparty

    I was only aware of iron and b12...what other vitamins and nutrients are you talking about that you can only find in meat?

  • The danger is that the big corporations already are making huge mono-cultures of stevia, which will not only cause to deteriorate the plant's genetic info, it will cause all sorts of problems with pesticide and such. It would be much better if we all grew a couple of Stevia plants in our homes/gardens.

  • @randomnoone That's not unhealthy eating fresh wild caught game. If you wanna eat meat and you hunt, just eat the game that you catch. There's alot of vitamins and nutrients you need in meat that can't be found in raw veggies or fruit. I'm sure you know this already, but it's still better than taking supplements. That's cool you know how to hunt, i wish I did. I'd never eat store meat ever again.

    On topic, I just bought some stevia sugar replacement yesterday. Tastes great.

  • In Canada it's quite easy to buy your own little stevia plant, put it in the window and watch it take off. You can harvest the leaves, eat them and taste the natural, zero calorie sweetness. Stevia powder from health food stores is itself fine to my taste, I don't need any corporate remakes and relabels.

  • Stevia. Banned in the UK because our corrupt Politicians just love taking the money from the big corporations to fund their lies and bullshit.

  • You have FDA pending approval of a natural sugar sweeter with no calories that has been used for hundreds of years in other countries, yet the FDA has approved synthetic sweeteners(aspartame, sucralose) used in products that promote health benefits and actually rick severe side effects(too many to list) But a natural solution gets all this rave and rant that it MIGHT be bad for your health? You have to be a moron not to put two and two together.

    WATCH! Dr Burzynski movie!!!!
