Core 2 quad of the latest gneration (9 series)if you want gaming.Or else a core i3.But the core 2 quad q9400 is very cheap to buy it with motherboard and memory and it rocks!And remember games need real and not fake power!Core i3/i5(6 series) have 2 cores.They are not good for gaming!And your core 2 duo is 65nm while mine is 45nm,as the exreme core i7.

you should get the i5-670 2 Cores /
4 threads 3.46 GHz up to 3.73 with turbo boost will be better for overclocking, it will have a higher multiplier unless you are buying the extreme i7
