@ratsgoth Thanks! You were so right, shit their was so much dust in the fan when I took it apart. I used compressed air to clean it (which I've never done in all the years I've had it) and it looks clean as ever now. After I put it back together and did a full system restore manually (and also cleaned house by deleting all my old files and programs that I never used, music, pics, etc) that seemed to help preformance wise. Its still kinda slow, but much better than it was and no longer over heats

yeagh its true there is no prblm...i just figured out that it is because there are parts of the cover that didn't tight enough..that's why it cannot turn on..
the technician said the problem is called auto-off..related to motherboard problm..they lied to me..cost me 70 usd..

Sims 3 needs lot of perfromance!
No wonder tha it's not working with your laptop
I have an older acer travelmate (can't remeber the model #) its from around 2004 I'd say. I would love to use it as a spare computer but it over heats so bad you could cook an egg on it. People always say their computer runs slow but this laptop is in a class by itself as far as lack of speed. It takes about 5 or 6 minutes just to turn it on. Does it sound like any of this could be fixed with time or money? Or is it just a lost cause? Any suggestions or advice would be awesome, thanks in advance

@sirjohnrambo
You have to open it and then open the fan.
It sounds like your fan is completely blocked with dust.
It will cost you a screwdriver i think about 1 dollar and a little knowledge to repair it ;)

@akuuler
There is no problem
You remove the chip which have the function to power on/off your notebook?
Then your notebook usually turns off :)
