Tomcat Alley is an interactive movie game on the Sega CD. Rather than flying the titular F-14 fighter jet, you get to be the co-pilot on one. You answer the radio, assign waypoints, lock onto enemies, etc.

It's interesting, to say the least, but still, the interactive movie genre is just a flawed concept when it comes to creating a great game. You spend more time watching movies versus actually playing a game, and if you make one mistake that usually means sudden death. And then when you play again you have to watch all those movies all over again just to get back to where you were before...

This, to me, will always keep this genre to the level of being an interesting experiment, versus being truly entertaining.

  • Why does the F-14 get launched from a catapult on a land based take off?

  • I'm one of those people who also enjoyed this game. Maybe because I watched too much Iron Eagle and loved watching the enemy models explode.

  • I played this game as a kid, and oh my. I can't believe how stupid I was.

  • @NailStrafer Me too, I loved this game!!

  • @nintendogsyo I did too...as kids this game was great...actually seeing real video in a video game was just unheard of! As horrible as it looks now it was great then. Look at the old Nokia cell phones with only a green backlight. Sucks when u look now, but it was pretty awesome at the time, right?!?! lol

  • Great times...

  • @nintendogsyo

    ur nickname defines ur ignorance.

I played this game to the end and its very cool.

Its a " quicktime " game YES. So?

  • This game was pretty cool for its time.

  • even the ps3 and xbox 360 cant do real graphics like these!

  • i reckon the best acting on the sega cd goes to sherlock holmes, i heard they used theatre actors for it.
