@ACDCwarmachine In our experience, changing batteries on the go happens infrequently. But, when it does, you're absolutely right it would be more time consuming to unscrew the cavity plate. In any case, 9V battery life for EMG's is quite good... "If you left your guitar plugged in day and night, the battery should still last a month. Under normal playing conditions, you would probably be looking at changing the battery twice a year." Why can't they make laptop batteries do that?

@ACDCwarmachine None taken. Battery compartments are now a standard feature on new Halo instruments that are equipped with active electronics. On the other hand, some folks prefer to keep as much wood in their guitars as possible. Battery compartments require some wood to be removed from the guitar body, and as a result, we've had some customers request their batteries be installed in the control cavity!
