In Laoag, just like in other parts of the Philippines, migration is one of the top options that are being considered by graduates. Mostly because these young people are hoping for a better life and they believed that working abroad offers more opportunities to make this dream a reality. However, there are two sides in this issue, which is what Frida Domingo and Raila Pungtilan of the Divine Word College aims to present in their song and poster exhibit. The song was written in the Ilocano dialect and sung by Frida.
This was produced through a workshop spearheaded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Probe Media Foundation, Inc. (PMFI). Dubbed as YouMove: Filipino Youth & Migration, the programme provided opportunities for students in communication-related courses to increase their awareness and understanding of migration (regular and irregular) and produce creative outputs that focused on their chosen subjects.
