@crazylegsmom Thanks for your kind words. I wish I had the ability to translate classical Chinese texts. I also believe observation is one of the best ways to learn art skills.

Very beautiful, Joshua! I like how you practice the Chinese characters on the ink-stone.
I recently wrote the Chinese character " 福 " for the sister of my spouse. She was so happy!

@HaxUnPeu Thank you. Trying some writing on the inkstone may help us know the characteristics and readiness of the ground ink. Glad that your sister likes Fortune or Good Luck.

Thank you for a lovely piece. Apart from ground ink, there is only one other - from a bottle ? Have a great weekend.

@cristobelle56 Usually we have ink stick for grinding and bottled ink ready to use. There are also less usual forms such as powder (to be mixed with water) and ink cake (for dipping with water). Have a nice weekend.

@artvirtue Many thanks for the invaluable information on ink. I can imagine powder form (to be mixed with water) but have yet to visualise how an ink cake looks like. Will check this out from Google Images. Weekend is almost over here ... Best,

@cristobelle56 Welcome. I did an introduction to ink cake in "Convenience Ink 方便墨 - Chinese Painting & Calligraphy." Sometimes I use it as a lazy man's method before sleep if I don't have enough time.
