A very pleasing trumpet piece from the Italian Baroque violinist and composer, Giuseppe Torelli. The composer is perhaps best remembered for his substantial contribution to Trumpet Concerti.

The photographs accompanying this piece are of Tattershall Castle, Lincolnshire, and were taken by me in late March 2010. Tattershall Castle was built in 1430 by the order of Ralph, Third Lord Cromwell - who was the equivalent of today's Chancellor of the Exchequer. This most prestigous of jobs made the lord the richest and most powerful of his time.

Tattershall Castle was intended as a home, not a defensive stronghold. It has been popularly described as "the finest piece of medieval brick-work in England."

The castle we see today was originally built on the site of a thirteen century stone castle, which has some remains in tact. A large proportion of Cromwell's castle no longer exists; including three once-impressive gatehouses, spires perched on top of the four turrets of the keep, and a kitchen and various other out buildings within the bailey.

Located near the keep, is the castle chapel which according to legend houses the grave of the chidlren's fairy tale character, Tom Thumb.
