A video of my system 8 console being troubleshooted. The signal from any (and all) channel(s) was not getting to the master output section. Or so it seemed...
Actually, it was, but the output section has relay just before outputting the Left and Right signal to the OUT jacks. It turns out that this relay is controlled by the PFL, which in order to work needs to be triggered by a negative voltage on the PFL "IN" jack. I don't understand why.

In the end I just modified it by using an unused portion of a pushbutton on the master section to send the negative rail voltage to that relay. Problem solved. Or is it a problem?

help would be appreciated...

Hi Samir, well I don't really know what you have for your setup, how you interface to the analog side. But if you want to use the System 8 as a mic preamp, then you have two options at least:

-use the Master out (it's a stereo 1/4 inch jack) to whatever you have on the other end

-use the system outputs using MONO (not balanced, TRS) jacks to whatever you have on the other end.

It's hard to tell because I don't know your system.

well, the problem is actually hard to see: the neck is too narrow. I think I removed too much with the wood plane. I played it for a couple of years, the action was really good, but in the end the skinny neck was just too annoying so I used the hardware on another guitar.

I will be making another neck in the next year I think. Ungluing the old one will be another fun task...

  • I think I might see the problem with that explorer on the wall.
