If you're looking to be a professor in philosophy or planning on going to law or medical school, then yea go ahead and get a philosophy degree if that's what you're into, but if your going to get the degree to try and get a job elsewhere, please don't major in philosophy, you'll just fuck yourself over with debt and the degree won't help you find a job, so please just really think it over.
Very informative!! I am majoring in Physics and Astronomy and I have been thinking of a minor in Philosophy. I am not sure if it would be worth my while and I hope it would help me down the road when I go for my PhD in Astronomy. Any advice would help greatly!
I would not recommend a major in Philosophy. I have a B.A. in Philosophy and Ancient Languages. Major in something practical that can get you a good job then study philosophy over the course of your life. I eventually realized that my philosophy degree was worthless career wise and I went back and did a B.S. and became a software developer. I wish I had majored in Computer Science and only minored in philosophy. The market is terrible for lawyers so that route is poor.
Hi thanks for posting this video. It's certainly informative. I'm currently going to be transferring to UCR and I've decided to major in Philosophy. Originally I was a Psychology major, but after having taken Philosophy courses to fulfill my transfer requirements I switched fields. I'm planning to become a college professor in the future. I was wondering what advice you could offer me, since I will be immersed in Philosophy this fall.
hello. i am a pre-med major/bio, and i want to attend medical school because i really want to be a doctor. however, besides medicine, i love philosophy and i was wondering if i should do an extra year and minor in philosophy. is it worth it??? needed? helpful to mcat??? i love philosophy, but its completely opposite of what i am pursing. should or should i not??? thank you for you time.
Philosophy is a great major for law school, because it teaches you how to think. It seems like the majority of Congressmen and women along with most other politicians don't have much thinking ability.
thank you so much sir...you are a gentleman to put this out to help people like me...im 20 and im not looking for golds or riched im just looking to get my PHD in Philosophy so I can teach young minds to think for themselves and to not be afraid of life.
@24NerF Thanks 24Nerf! Your response has been most appreciated and I am glad that you are able to make the most out of my comment by sarcastically taking it as advice. All the best love to you, you crazy diamond!
Philosophy degree is good with an Intelligence Studies degree where you can participate in a think tank...
