Prius - Marketing that makes a great car suck

The Prius is indeed a good car, not a green penalty box, and Toyota perhaps haven't gotten that message out as they should. However, the Telsa Roadster is an exotic supercar which obviously needs a different image from the Prius. Toyota also will introduce a supercar based on their FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept. Thus Tesla are starting at the high end of the market and working down, while Toyota started in the middle and are working their way upward.

That's a (common) slash, not a backslash. Anyway, that Tesla looks like a hot car. I think I'd take that over a Prius.

Tesla may have sold out in under four months but that doesn't mean they sold more. More Priuses have been sold than Teslas.

Tesla is building $100k exotic because they don't have mass production capacity. Fewer will buy a $100k hand built family sedan. Technology for an electric car that does 200+ miles range, seats family of 5, 0-60 mph under 9 seconds, tops 100 mph is here; in volume could be done under $20k. Big automakers have the resources to mass produce cars; they refuse to make electrics. Small companies like Tesla want to do it but are too bogged down with regulations and machine tool costs to mass produce.

Sorry but the Tesla is not a very affordable choice therefore is not a car that everybody can buy, also keep in mind that the Prius is a car for five adults (not a two setter). I am not worry about the outside; it has to be comfortable for me and my family of four. I can understand what you are saying however for a family have to be a practical vehicle. All the way electric like the Tesla would be better.

Thanks for posting this. I didn't learn anything new from it, but am at least glad that someone else shared my own sentiments on this issue.
I'd rather have an EV-1 from general motors
