Historian Basil Davidson looks at the nation that lay to the south of Egypt and from where Egypt sprang. Called "Ethiopia" (a Greek word which means "burnt face") in most English translations of the scriptures, Cush/Nubia was a mighty kingdom which had it's captial first at Napata, and then at Meroe (pronounced "Mero-Way") in modern-day Sudan. Davidson gives many examples of the greatness of Cush and informs us of the Cushite dynasty that led Kemet/Egypt for a hundred years. He mentions the the great Cushite king Tarharka (1 Kings 19:9/Isaiah 37:9).
