  • Allen i carved right along with ya on the shelf elf got mine done and i didn't do a bad job (eyes wasn't to good,oh well) but i really enjoyed it. keep it up. this is my first carving.

  • Thank's sothunfried im smilin' ear to ear for ya ! The eyes are kinda tough when beginning ( I can relate very well) but just keep practicing and keep a mirror handy ,to study the best example there is."Long live the elf wherever may he may set."

    Could you show a pattern for the cutouts? Either on a piece of paper with measurements, or drawn on the block of wood with measurements? Kind of tough for me to eyeball this.

    There are some programs that allow you to download youtube video. Ask Google.....it knows everything.

    mag. issue 14, 2006, (for further help).

    The most important thing is it has to have e-nuff wood to "sit" on a shelf, without falling off. I used a 2'' x 2'' x 7'' in the article, but it can be any size you like !
