I can tell you i have the same issue, its not hard drive related cause i have an SSD and i still experience that sound whilst booting and resuming the OS X Lion

Dude I would back it up, because I had a Seagate 250GB (2.5) in my notebook. Since I installed Windows in it, everything was working perfectly but after 2 weeks later, it won't let me run Windows, I saw the blue screen pop up for less than a second and then restarted. Then I reinstalled Windows again then 3 days later when I left it on, came back to the room and found out it was restarted. Then I heard like the drive had trouble reading, so I got myself a Western Digital 320GB Hard Drive.

my hitachi in my macbookpro doesn't make that problem. I was thinking of upgrading to this hard drive and watching this video has put me off. I'm going to postpone upgrading until i can find a drive that wont make dumb noises.

mine has same problem, I took it to the apple store today, they said it could be the HD, they changed it... and it still makes that noise... and theeeen he said it's normal and the computer is perfectly fine. that still bothers me.... we pay billions of dollars in a mac and we get a flea behind our ear.

the fact that some rated this 3 stars or lower shows you the dedication that these fanboys have with apple....

wow i would be pissed if i spent that kind of money
I have made no progress here. I think this problem only happens in OSX though. I have never heard the sound in Boot Camp. Something makes me think its a software/firmware issue.
