My rescued rainbow lorikeet Squishy. She has one speed (manic) and I get no work done, but I love her to bits. Song: Basement Jaxx, Red Alert

  • I LOVE UR BIRD SOOO MUCHHH... its reminds me of my one which flew away... please see him by visiting my videos :)

    we really miss him

  • @CookieMuffys I know. My first lorikeet flew away when my parents were looking after him. I was devastated. When I heard a bird had been handled in to a nearby vet and was about to be put down, I was so hopeful it was him, but it was a different bird needing a home. She's such a character, but so different to my first one. So get out there and save another bird!

  • Hi my name is Paul. I live in Christchurch New Zealand. I have Two rainbow lorikeets, Jazz who is 4 and half yrs old and Murphy 5 mths old. I love your video and it is great to see such a happy little bird hopping around and playful, you have done a wonderful job. Congrats to yo.

  • @Paulshatford Thanks Paul. I just love Squish. I wish I knew more people with lorikeets locally to talk about these crazy birds. What a sense of humour they have, hey?

  • Haha, the way she hops around is absolutely adorable! Is that the only way Rainbow Lorikeets can travel on foot - by hopping? Thanks for sharing. (:

  • @MeerkatGal No, she can walk, but hopping is faster when she's got cats to chase. Sometimes when she's extra happy she'll just bounce up and down on the spot (high too) or around in circles. That's the cutest.

  • @mrfaizal1978 Try gentle advance and retreat techniques. Retreat (a reward for a scared bird; or give your bird a treat or something he likes) every time your bird is a bit braver. For example if you extend your hand slowly towards him and he doesn't move away, say 'good bird' and retreat (or give him a treat depending on how tame he is). He will learn trust pretty quickly like this. Putting a little bit of honey on your finger doesn't hurt either, as a reward!

  • Aw my one wont do anytricks yet is maga scared of me for somereason

  • @jalina68 Aww thx... I will ... i am gonna adopt one as soon as i can.. Coco knew how to sing and it was soo cute when he sang.. he mostly sang in the car and he would be soo happy.. I blame myself for him flying away:( i should have taken better care :(

  • Hi Paul again. If you would like to talk about your bird Squishy I find it easier to chat to breeders of parrots as they know lots about them and they can give you valuable advice. With my lori Jazz he learnt to talk naturally I did not force him I let him pick up naturally by listening and I don't clip the wings. It all comes down to how good you train them. They love to eat fruit, silverbeat, biscuits, and so on. My two loris love toast with jam and cups of tea and coffee, not all the time

  • (Hugs)! I know that living with a Lori isn't easy, but you've done something right! Squishy looks so pert and happy!

  • i luv how squishy jumps and chases ur cat

    cute lolz
