Sorry, maybe I was being harsh. I wouldn't say it was a poor review, but a confusing one. The fact that you say the SFX are "lightyears ahead", but then towards the end of the review, you say that the creatures look like they're made of cardboard. You then also say that the ONLY redeeming factor of the film is that it is exactly what the director wanted, but then you give the film an overall 6/10, which is a pretty high score for a film containing only one good factor.

The FX are light-years ahead of sci-fi channel stuff, and they do still look like cardboard. It just speaks to how terrible sci-fi effects are. I said the only REDEEMING factor was that it was what the director wanted - and good and redeeming are two different things. It has many good things, but the only thing that redeems it from being pure trash is that it's exactly what Darabont wants.

Seriously, you need to learn how to make a review without staring at your cue cards the whole time. Very monotone and bland. Have some emotion dude, jeez that was boring as hell.

All throughout the film I felt like I wanted to go into the movie and shoot the christian extremist. She got what was coming to her.

I think you were way too hard on the film. I went to the video store, watched it with some friends last night. The monsters were lame, I agree with that. But, characters like Mrs. Carmody MORE than made up for it. It was psychological, I liked that. I think it deserves more credit for being scarey, with nothing more than a super market, and a lame mist to play with.

you are a dork.The film was good, writing was nice and organic, the acting was naturalistic, the sfx were gash but that seems to always haunt steven king monster movies.

The argument that it shows nothing new is redundant aswell( the heroes wifes death, the ending in general),you said the characters are cliched,There are good arcs for some of the peripheral characters and you rarely see that in film.This film looks like a b-movie in theme but is pretty sophisticated concerning execution.
