  • Long live Pope Benedict XVl!! The Roman Catholic Church is the One Church founded by Jesus Christ. I am a former very anti-catholic protestant who has converted to Catholicism. So all I will say is that unless you actively seek the truth you won't ever find it.

  • Enough is enough, stop speaking of the sexual abuses, they happened and sadly will continue happening because sinful men always were.... the most the Church can do is take precautions , pray and ask forgiveness which it's done a million times dare. Now every one should be discussing the Homosexual marriages which will take place in Portugal, that is what people should be condemning!!

  • Child abuse is more likely to happen by a step father or other family member. I have NEVER known a single person who was abused by the Catholic hierarchy. God bless the Pope and all our Priests, Bishops and Deacons! I'm glad to be Catholic!

  • @priest008 I've read Aquinas. I don't bother with Darwin since I prefer modern books on Evolution and I'm amazon-ing St. Alphonsus Ligouri now, I'll try him :)

  • @taxiride1 Yes...so am I a wide reader, I read all sorts include Darwin etc....But the more I read books like 'st.Alphonsus Ligouri' the more I confirm that the faith is real and alive. I think you would enjoy "St.Thomas Aquinas" too.

  • @priest008 Ah, thanks. But I'm an avid reader - I've read the Bible many times, as well as books by the current Pope like The Fathers, I've read books by Saints like Teresa of Avila, I like to read wider. But thank you for your response :)

  • @taxiride1 One understands the priests concern..the Gnostic Gospels are part of the New testament apocrpha and it depends what versions you are reading. You are free to read them no one will stop you, however rather than reading what Holy Mother Church deems "unimportant" why don't you read what was put together by the Holy Ghost and the Church fathers and that which has established holy Mother Church and her Apostolic traditions...read the Holy Bible.

  • @priest008 Will you give your parishioners permission to read the Gnostic Gospels? (I ask in curiosity with no reference to what we talked about previously.) Certain Priests in my acquaintance have told me that I shouldn't, I mean, of course I am reading them now. But do you think I should?

  • @taxiride1 heey, I am not a priest yet.....and you needn't have authority to prove a point all one must do is Read, chew and swallow sacred scripture then read chew and swallow the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

  • @priest008 We'll agree to disagree but only because you are a Priest and have more authority in these matters than I do.

  • @taxiride1 We are talking about souls here..Any soul can be knit together, like I love my friend and will do anything for my brother or friend, knitting a soul to soul. But Sacred Matrimony is between Man and woman.! Period, exclamation mark! The word of God is so clear on: Fornication, homosexual actions and Adultery, let's not play the fool here, we all know they are condemned actions. The Church strenghtens a conservative political agenda because conservative society allows the Church space..

  • @priest008 "...the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul" 1 Samuel 18:1 The Church should concern herself with the salvation of the flock, not strengthening a conservative political agenda. My confessor and I have this debate often.
