A nice brown trout caught dapping the natural mayfly. Tis a pity that the people making abusive comments do not understand the real problems confronting The Corrib. They are well documented but unfortunately nobody is taking responsibility:
1. Leachate from Galway City dump.
2. Nitrate run-off from farmland
3. Pig slurry
4. Domestic waste especially bleaches from dishwashers from many of the houses from around the shores which do not have proper waste containment.
5. Both legal and illegal gill-netting and subsequent sale of fish.
If they want a viable fishery for their children they need to remove their heads from their anuses and do something about it instead of abusing visiting anglers who killed 2 fish in a week and added several hundred Euros to the local economy.

  • The rod is a 13' coarse match rod that has been re-ringed with snake rings. you don't need anything longer, these huge 15-16' telescopic hernia poles are a bloody liability and a waste of money! the fish will come up close to the boat so you don't need anything longer than 12-13'.

  • when did we kill them all? We kept 2 fish to eat in a week. If you can't make a sensible comment, don't make a comment at all!

  • great video

  • thanks BFC01, I have had a load of abuse from people who think killing a fish is the end of the world! There is a sustainable crop to be taken from every lake and Corrib is no different. doing things in moderation is OK - the old days of killing everything is no longer acceptable!

  • WEL DONE DATS A FANTASTIC FISH

  • Well caught chum, and you "priested" fish quick-good fishing manners, which few seem to understand

Fished Corrib in 1976 on the dap, and I just could not get timing of strike right!

The Irish say the lords prayer (relatively quickly! from the time the fish rolls over fly and takes it down to inspect it)

-the foreigners count from one to ten till they strike

Got one fish, but the Canadian ghillie got two, and the local Irish farmer, got three!

kept two of the fish, the others we returned
