Give the guy a break. Look at videos from when they were young, and you will see Flans had a boyishly-chubby face at any weight. To me, this shows that his body's natural tendency was probably toward an endomorphic habitus anyway. It is much easier to fight your body's natural weight "set point" when you are young.
Both Johns will always be hotties in my book, regardless of weight or age. Intelligence is very sexy!

The camera is on Flans while he sings lead and during his guitar solo, and pans to Linnell while he sings backing and plays the accordion solo. But if you have a time machine that can take you back 18 years you are welcome to give my younger self your sage cinematic counsel.
