The Piazza at Schmidts (North 2nd Street and Germantown Avenue, www.atthepiazza.com), a mind-blowing 80,000 square-foot outdoor gathering place and social hub in Northern Liberties, will host an exciting series of free events all summer long.

Modeled after Italys famed piazzas, known for generations as gathering places for the citys bohemian community, The Piazza is a dazzling open-air venue for enjoying live performances, concerts, street vendors, festivals and more all year long. All events are free, and take place in the central courtyard, where the citys largest LED screen and an outdoor performance stage anchor one of Philadelphias most exciting new entertainment destinations.

Planned weekly events for the month of June include: Mystery Mondays, featuring a variety of programs such as modern dance and speakers series; Game On Tuesdays featuring the Philadelphia Phillies, with live big-screen broadcasts of Phillies games and guest DJs during commercial breaks; Piazza Unplugged Wednesdays, featuring acoustic performers as well as students at Phillys own Curtis School of Music and Temple Universitys Esther Boyer College of Music; Jazz at the PZA on Thursdays, with straight-ahead, fusion and avant garde musicians and live poetry readings; Funk on Fridays, with weekly themes including Motown and Philly soul; Worlds in Collision, a Saturday event featuring world music, crafts and foods from around the globe, a Piazza signature event; and Movie Nights on Sundays, with a dizzying array of short and feature length films including new and never-before-seen cuts. So this is where Sabina Rose O'Donnell was working @, before she was murdered. What a sad story. This girl seemed liked she had a job, at a safe place. I hope they find the person responsible. The media has supposedly have an image of the culprit, or person of interest.

I went down there last night for the open bar at PYT. I was genuinely shocked by the layout and space. I felt very un NE urban city. I felt like I was in Toronto or some chic square in Madrid.
