For more than 200 years, the National Mall has provided our nation a grand and symbolic setting for ceremonial, cultural, political and recreational activities for residents and visitors to Washington, DC.
However, with more than 25 million visitors each year and $350 million in deferred maintenance the National Mall has suffered.
We want citizens and visitors to continue to feel a deep sense of pride in the National Mall and know that it is a place that is admired and respected throughout the world.
What more proof do we need that our taxes are not going to where they should -- roads, infrastructure, bridges, and parks -- but to nanny-state welfare and overseas warfare?

I had no idea this was even a problem. We need to do something about this, especially with the inauguration coming up and so many more people being on the Mall.
