One of my favourite tracks from one of my all time favourite albums. Thanks to Moya from Leyland for introducing me to Amy's music back in 1990.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were young,
And none of us know quite what to say,
But the feeling moved
Among us in silence anyway.
Slowly we had made
Quite a change--
Somewhere we had crossed a big line.
Down upon our knees,
We had tasted holy wine,
And no one could sway us
In a life time.
Purer than the sky,
Behind the rain.
Falling down all around us,
Calling out from a boundless love.
Love had lit a fire;
We were the flame.
Burning into the darkness,
Shining out from inside us.
Not a word.
And no one had to say we were changed.
Nothing else we lived through
Would ever be same the same,
Knowing the truth
That we had gained.
Purer than the sky,
Behind the rain.
Falling down all around us,
Calling out from a boundless love.
Love had lit a fire;
We were the flame.
Burning into the darkness,
Shining out from inside us.
Stay with me.
Make it ever new,
So time will not undo,
As the years go by,
How I need to see
That's still me.
Falling down all around us,
Calling out from a boundless love.
Yeah....
Burning into the darkness,
Shining out from inside us.
Purer than the sky,
Behind the rain.
Falling down all around us,
Calling out from a boundless love.
Love has lit a fire;
I am the flame.
Burning into the darkness,
Shining out from inside us.
Purer than the sky,
Behind the rain.
Falling down all around us,
Calling out from a boundless love. (ohh....)
Love has lit a fire;
I am the flame.
Burning into the darkness,
Shining out from inside us.
Purer than the sky,
Behind the rain.
Falling down all around us,
Calling out from a boundless love.
  • Could somebody upload the full album version of the song Lead Me On?
  • @deborahjoshuajustin
    It's now up. :o)
  • What was this song about? I get some of the lyrics.
    I remember buying this album when it first came out and NOW.....20 years later. SOB. We are getting old.
  • It's about finding god at a young age. (Amy was 14 in 1974).
  • Love this song too! First CD I ever bought-1988. First official date my wife & I went on, Lead Me On Tour in Chicago, October of 1988. Just celebrated our 22nd Anniversary-12/9/11-oh the memories. Love this song and album on SO many levels!! Thanks for posting. :)
    Had no idea.
    Thanks for posting.
  • Not a Christian, in the normal sense anyways, but I have to say that this is a perfect album.
  • Isn't funny how the best albums are the least commercially successful. Still, CCM named this the best Christian album of all time. awesome song...
  • This was a phenomenal album made by Amy Grant and company in 1988! There is never an album she put out that wasn't full of so many great songs! And early Amy Grant music has always been such wonderful Godly music that has always taught and encouraged me! I love you Amy Grant, and I owe you a big hug one day! In Christ's precious Agape Love, BobbyK
  • I absolutely love this song, there are alot of memories it brings back
