In the film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Gordon Gecko is released from prison during the wake of The Internet/High-Tech Bubble of 1999-2000--was the largest creator and destroyer of wealth. Like the Crash of 1929, this new bubble was marked by excessive speculation, market manipulation, and fraud--a lesson for all time.

  • Those who created and operated the pools had a proper exit strategy in that they dumped their holdings before the market bubble burst. Of course, what they did was illegal and destructive.

  • With proper exit strategys the collapse would simply have turned your paper profits into real ones. Stocks should be approached as so many playthings to be ridden hard and then dispensed with when they turn against you.
