No on Proposition 8 Protest in San Francisco on November 14th. My favorite signs where:
"I voted in the first black president and all I got was this lousy marriage law!"
"Marriage is so gay"
"I served in Iraq for everyone's rights"
"TAX THE MORMONS!!!"
To me it comes down to one thing... The concept of liberty and what this nation was based on. Not only the separation of church and state but the very concept of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. If an others choice in life doesn't cause harm to you or anyone else, then they have every right to live their life as a citizen of the United States.
The funny thing about these law battles are the ways some sides make a truly horrible concept sound okay.
For instance:
A. The banning of a basic human right for religious purposes -OR-
B. I'm Pro-Family!
A. A pointless illegal war that has cost America $572,523,199,473 and it's reputation. -OR-
B. We have to get those terrorist.
tldr: The scariest thing about a movement is when it justifies a crime against humanity as something sincere and sweet.
Can you imagine Pastor Martin Luther King Jr having the freedom riders strip down to their undies, painting thier faces, yelling and scaring the kids into race-a-phobes?
Did Nelson Mandella and Susan B. Anthony and Mahatma Gandhi teach us nothing? They kept their dignity to prove we are all one people. Gay marches and parades have in SO many instances made a point to make themselves scary. Look all over youtube and see if little kids could be afraid of these adults.
